Fernley is a 55+ community located within Cresthaven, near the southern border of West Palm Beach. Fernley is divided into 4 separate sub-communities, numbered sections 1 through 4. Each section has its own association with different management companies and some slightly different rules (see below). Section 1 is the only section to allow pets, for instance. Each section has its own set of amenities including a clubhouse, pool, sauna, tennis courts, and shuffleboard. Construction began in 1977, and is comprised of single-story attached villas with flat roofs. Floor plans range from 1 to 2 bedrooms, and 1 to 2 bathrooms, from 784 to 1,324sqft. Each unit provides assigned parking for 2 vehicles, screened porches or patio space, shared yard space, and most units contain laundry appliances and screened patios. Fernley is near I-95, the Florida Turnpike, the Tri-Rail/Brightline train systems, and the Palm Beach International Airport. Residents have access to a broad range of entertainment options between the upscale West Palm Beach, and the more relaxed and artistic Downtown Lake Worth.
